Nissa calls this “pampagood vibes”, that feeling of being positive and grateful for all the graces that comes Nate’s way.

He is a grader now (Grade one)in the same school where he spent his kindergarten. His hard works and efforts are rewarded.

Great job Nate. Nonna is proud of you 🙂

Nissa says, “parang bida sa sinaunang pelikula (a lead actor in an old film). I laughed but I love his smile. A typical Nate smile, bigay na bigay.

And here’s the colored version of this pic.

The whole  month of August is a celebration of Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa where we give thoughts and importance to our own language, Wikang Pilipino. I should be blogging about this in Pilipino but I am not that good in writing one. Just hear me speak 🙂

Welcoming the month with a smile although a little subdued at that. Guess what? He is missing two front teeth. The garb is definitely Pilipino.

Sometimes I often smile and laugh about Nate’s poses in front of the camera. He has a signature pose which he learned  years ago when he joined an acting workshop one summer.

He looks like an endorser of a fruit juice ad 🙂

Some of my friends say that his looks is more on the side of the Abuel which is my maiden name. Some say he looks more like one of my brothers. I say, it’s more like Nissa and Obet combined (but of course).

Mother and son, enjoying the moments together. This was also taken yesterday when they celebrated Father’s Day.

the kiss….

That’s how he kisses when in the mood with a tight hug and tight embrace. Nissa said, “araw ni Daddy ngayon pero may eksena pa rin si Mommy”.  Yeay 🙂

I copied some pictures of Nate when they were in Baguio over the weekend.  Too bad we didn’t see each other at the parking lot of Shell Select last Sunday. I met Nissa though, she came for a hug and a kiss.

Nate’s signature pose.

“Mommy, it’s cold outside”. I love this one, a serene shot of our big boy.

Happy together 🙂

That somehow naughty smile…..

What a lovely scenery.

Nissa has thousands of photos of Nate in her camera phone – different places, so many poses.

Truly, it was another day worth remembering. When Nate is around, the house is alive too.  I took some shots of Nate on my tab while he was opening his gifts from and when we tried to assemble those tiny plastic toys to form an Apache Helicopter and a toy truck. Once he saw the boxes, he shouted, “amazing Nonna, I love these”. You’re welcome baby. Nice to know you like them. Since I just used my tab, the photos are not that clear.

I haven’t bought a new camera yet, I am so lazy to go out and buy one. Besides, my cash here would probably not enough for a good camera yet. I don’t want to use my credit card when it comes to items that I want but don’t have the immediate need  of it.

He was just excited to see his gifts from Nonna.

What are they Nate?

Haha, and your mom is so good at it. Nonna doesn’t know how to follow instructions.

Let’s start with the Apache helicopter next, as if I could…haha 🙂

He brought along some of his Lego toys. The toy trucks, airplanes and dinosaurs were already assembled earlier.

Lovely!

Dinosaurs, airplanes, trucks and what have you.

Hmm….I am truly impressed with your collection.

Does he like the book?  He does.  He scanned the pages and took note of the illustrations in every page. Then he said, “I like to read Stuart Little”.  His kuya Kevin gave him a book too for his birthday while my friend Lilet gave him a set of slim volumes of fairy tales. They were written in bold letters so I am sure he could read them now.

Before they went home, we spent about an hour at the garden shooting targets from his toy gun.

Another Saturday of precious bonding.

Again, for the nth time, I am proud of this little boy.  They were just given their report cards for the second grading and he got the highest score just like the first grading period.

When a family member is recognized for his achievements, you feel like you are also a winner and you feel that pride of place for being his Nonna.

Ang batang maasahan (a kid you could rely on), a joyful thanksgiver and a busy bee. I could understand the busy bee. He is just so active sometimes he volunteers with works that he can handle. At his young age, he is so responsible.

Proud Nonna here. See you tomorrow baby.

Time flies.

It’s your 6th birthday.

I still could remember the night you were born. Your dad and I were so excited when we were summoned to the delivery room to wait for your birth. We didn’t know you have to stay at the NICU because you had sepsis brought on by the slow labor of your mom after you were induced. The OB Gyn decided for the CS operation a little too late. I got pretty mad because of their neglect.

Good thing your pediatrician was a very good doctor explaining everything to us while you stayed at the NICU for almost a month.

When you were a year old, I wrote a similar letter to you hoping that when you grow a little older and could read every word, you will be able to appreciate it.  I am writing to you again today on your 6th birthday.

Nonna is so proud that  you are doing so well in school, always with high honors and good grades. Nonna is so proud that you have become an articulate little boy who could sometimes argue your point while you also listen. Nonna is so proud that you are growing smartly.  You no longer start your sentence with “One day……”. You tell your own stories now, not those tales that you remember. You talk about school and your friends.  You talk about always being happy to be here at home, sometimes you don’t even want to take a bath because to you that means going home soon :).

HAPPY, HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY.  May you grow to be God-loving,  healthy, smart, loving and lovable, kind, compassionate, caring and respectful to your elders. See you soon!

At one year old, he was Captain America

At two, an F1 Racer

At three, Mr. Bones

At four, undead pilot

At five, a jet fighter pilot.

I wonder what will be next when he turns six.  We don’t really celebrate  Halloween unlike Christmas but at the various Bank of PI offices/departments where Nissa works, they do. They bring the kids and they have programs.  There are prizes for the  Best Costume for the kids and the best decor for Halloween.

Last night, Nissa sent me this photo of Nate’s awards for the first grading period of the school year. So happy to see that his efforts paid off.

He is number one in his class with an average grade of 96%. Nissa said that more than the academic excellence,  she is  more happy about his  Character Trait Awards – Batang Maasahan (a kid you can rely on), Joyful Thanksgiver,  Busy  Bee.  I could understand being a busy bee, he couldn’t stay in one place without looking for anything to do. As long as he is active, it’s okay.

Proud of you baby. it would surely be a nice celebration for us on Saturday and your awards are the best gifts for your Mommy who’ll be celebrating her birthday on Friday.
