At one year old, he was Captain America

At two, an F1 Racer

At three, Mr. Bones

At four, undead pilot

At five, a jet fighter pilot.

I wonder what will be next when he turns six.  We don’t really celebrate  Halloween unlike Christmas but at the various Bank of PI offices/departments where Nissa works, they do. They bring the kids and they have programs.  There are prizes for the  Best Costume for the kids and the best decor for Halloween.

The other Saturday when they came over, I watched Nissa  make some reviewers for Nate for his first periodical exams this school year. so happy to this result.

So proud of you Nate, you made good again.

I still remember those days when I did the same thing for Nissa and Josef. I remember those days when I would  attend their recognition awarding. And the culmination was Nissa graduating as Magna Cum Laude in college.  I always said, “may pinagmanahan si Nate”.

And as a reward, my son-in-law bought this for him, a  War Machine that Nate loves. He has previous toys of these action figures but he is  still collecting.

Giving rewards for a job well done motivates a child to do better.  And being smart inspires confidence.

Just sharing with you some more photos of Nissa’s family when they took a three-day  road trip to Baler, Aurora. I always love those photos when I seem them enjoying the site and the place. If only I could post the videos here while they were at the waterfall.

Look at their happy faces probably anticipating an afternoon of beach walk and  swimming. Sun and sea – what a perfect combination.

I had a good laugh at this one, seeing  Nate balancing himself. Identical shirts? Haha!

Stage parents? Haha. I think Nissa and Obet enjoyed more than Nate did.

Cool! The Tondo boy looking more astig than his Dad.  What a really lovely place.

A typical Nate post. He learned it while attending a workshop a few months ago.

Ah, and this. A beautiful sunrise, a serene sea, a calm morning. It must be lovely to just walk and feel the morning breeze while watching the sun rises.

The song goes, “the deep blue sea”. Baler, when will I see your shores?

Obet’s side of the family had their  grand reunion last Sunday in Cavite. Nissa said it was fun, a whole day affair with a mass. They were all in Filipiniana costume.

Nate was  his exuberant self as usual.

I’m impressed.  He did it all on  his own. First taste of having a job done well.  He took a one-week  Kiddy Summer  Workshop at one of the branches of McDo. then he got this at the end of the training.  Kids could be responsible too when you teach them well.

Yesterday was another milestone in Nate’s life and in ours too, his family.

It was a lovely celebration of Moving Up at the Manila Hotel, a two-hour program where they sang and danced.  They didn’t have this honors awards but Josef got two awards, Best in Reading and best In Science. So proud of you baby. I remember those days when your mom was like your age. I started her in kindergarten instead of nursery school but she got the first honors and a gold medal. Bank in high school and in college I was up the stage every recognition day and graduation. She graduated  Magna Cum Laude.  Hoping you will too when you grow up. I can’t help but post these lovely photos of yours.

how lovely getting those gold medals.

This is quite a late update. I have lots of photos  of my grandson courtesy of Nissa but I don’t always seem to be able to blog about them. Nate’s grades during the third grading period were a great improvement from the second one. He is surely adjusting to school life.

Yes, his grades have significantly gone up for the  third quarter term. So proud of our boy.  I remember that time during his first two weeks in class when he would not want to be left behind  by his mom or his paternal grandmother. He is enjoying his class now, his teachers and his classmates.

A few  more days to go and you’re done with nursery school Nate.

I think it is not officially summer yet but two weeks ago Nissa’s family went on another swimming trip. Nate loves the water. We were supposed to go with them but we could not leave mom alone in the house. My eldest brother was not available. Nissa took some photos of their trip.

I am sure those were enjoyable moments for our baby who is now four years old.  At the beach or in  a swimming pool, he loves it. Maybe it’s about time he officially learns how to swim.

So now, you’ve just turned four. Happy birthday  baby. I know you are no longer a baby, you have grown. I am glad you have reached this age where we could converse  and talk to each other well.  It is always nice to hear your voice over the phone and to see you when you come over for a visit.

Time flies! Now you can relate with us like a four-year old does.  I promised myself that I would write about your growing up years remember?  Yes, I remember those times when you visit us and we would play together and shout. I remember those times we spend at the garden to pick up calamansi for you to bring home. I remember those times you always say “yummy” when we have our lunch together. Those are priceless moments indeed.

There are more journeys that we will take and discover.  There are more things that you’ve got to learn.  There are more adventures that we will undertake. In all these, I wish you all the happiness, good health and plenty of love around you.  I wish you everything good that a loving Nonna could wish for.

We are so blessed and lucky to have you around. Happy Birthday 🙂

It’s been a while.

Come Tuesday next week, November 22, our baby Nate is turning four.  They  had their yearly road trip in Subic, Zambales this weekend.  Nate loves the beach. I talked to him a while ago and he said he enjoyed it.  He actually doesn’t want to come home yet but they’ve been there since Thursday afternoon. It is such a joy to see him  so happy.
