Nate At 8

Dreams And Escapes

Can’t believe it, Nate is eight years old now. And yes, time really flies. I made an album today from his birth (first photo) and every year of celebration until his seventh birthday.

Nissa wrote this on her timeline:

“To my darling baby Nate..Oh my… just the thought that you are already 8 brings tears to my eyes. Watching you grow and blossom to the young man that you are now is truly a blessing. I love our late night conversations about everything under the sun- making choices, your dreams, happy memories, and even death. I love how you still depend on Mom’s back rubs to be able to sleep and yet be so independent in other things.

Every time I see you, I am reminded of how blessed I am that God gave you to me.I love you so much, my best buddy! I hope you enjoy your special…

Nate Turns 8

Making It Simple

I had a good chat with Nissa  last night and she told me about Nate’s progress in school. Nate loves his online classes but Nissa is having a hard time working  from home and at the same time supervising Nate in his schooling. “That’s is why I never dreamed of being a school teacher”, I told Nissa even if Dad persuaded mo to take up Education when I was in college.

They have this subject where they learned to make a simple book mostly drawings of the things they want to put on paper. Nate got so absorbed in it that he made several instead of just one to submit in school.

Nissa actually took a video on how it’s done, unfortunately I could not seem to follow it. I must admit I am not good in following instructions like that. You have to fold the paper so many times and  cut it in the middle then fold it again so it would create pages. Here are the examples Nissa sent me on what Nate did this week.

Children could really be so creative. I wanted to see the other figures that he made especially the flowers and cars. Oh, they still wear uniform shirts even at home with their school logo. Nissa told me they have different colors of shirts every day.

Proud Second-Grader

Time flies….really so fast!

Amidst this deadly pandemic, we  still strive to  have a normal life and one of it is enrolling our precious boy in second grade. They started their online class yesterday and Nissa told me it was a hard change from the face-to-face interaction done in school. All modules were uploaded online but a kid of seven would hardly know what to do without a mother’s supervision even if he can easily navigate his tab. Nissa bought him one a few weeks ago purely  for online learning. She said she was like a teacher unprepared in a single-student class. I told her, in time, they would adjust to it. Her problem is, her mother-in-law is not a techie and it might be hard for her to handle Nate’s online classes when Nissa and Obet  report to the office twice a week.

Good thing, Nate was really enthusiastic to learn. Nissa forwarded some photos of the spare room in their house converted to Nate’s study.

Nate’s study corner with his medals from Nursery to Grade One prominently displayed.

Second grade, school year 2020-2021.

Good luck baby. GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS.

Congratulations Nate!

Nissa sent me this photo yesterday. It’s Nate’s latest achievements in Grade 1. By August 24 if schools push through, he’ll be in Grade 2.

And she accompanied it with these inspiring words.

Nate, ever since you started schooling, you’ve never failed to make us proud of your scholastic achievements. You growing up to be a sweet, loving, brave and generous kid means everything. Your medals and awards are just icing on the cake. We hope you know how very happy you make us. We love you, dear Nate. Congratulations on a job well done!

1st grade done, next.

Nonna is so proud of you!

Only In Pictures

Nate was left home when  Nissa and Obet came to visit us  yesterday but Nissa sent these pictures of him taken today.

Chubby, chubby, tabachingching!

Look at his photos. I just laughed seeing him and I miss him all the more.

Look at how he poses in front of the camera with matching shades…haha!

Enjoying the water.

It still seems like summer here. The sun is in its full glory.

Ang mag-ina….bow!

Two front teeth still missing? They all look happy.

In all the more than four months that I haven’t seen him, he has definitely grown.

Seven Going Twenty

Dreams And Escapes

Here’s another conversation between Nissa and Nate. Lucky mom. It’s typical of Nate to do this. When they’re around, he gives me a massage too.  This isn’t the first time he said that he will stay single and take care of Nissa.   Huh?  Nice words coming from a seven-year old.

Last night, Nate gave me a massage. Then he tucked me into bed. I asked him why he was so sweet. He answered, “You know I’ll do anything to make you happy Mom. I know you’re tired. I’ve been thinking about how hard you work and take care of me and Dad. It’s time for me to give back. Babawi naman ako.”

I was so touched that tears started falling. He wiped my tears away and said, “Don’t cry Mommy. Just relax. I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable. No need to rub my back na to make me sleep…

Happy Valentine’s Day Mom!

Haha, I smiled when I saw this. Nate’s simple gift to Nissa on Valentine’s Day. Look at the crude style those paper hearts were made….beautiful.  It’s a note (again) saying she is an excellent cook and a rose. Sweet. Love it. This is not the first time he wrote to  Nissa. When we were at the hospital a few months ago, he also wrote the same thing that Nissa is #1 when it comes to cooking.

See you in a while Nate.

Dreams And Escapes

WITHOUT prompting, ask your child these questions and write EXACTLY what they say about you:

What is something mommy says a lot?
Nate: I love you, Nate

•What makes mommy happy?
Nate: me

•What makes mommy sad?
Nate: When I’m makulit

•What’s mommy’s favorite thing to do?
Nate: Spend time with me

•What is mommy’s favourite food?
Nate: Veggies

•What is mommy’s favorite drink?
Nate: Beer

•If mommy could go anywhere, where would she go?
Nate: to the mall to go shopping

•How does mommy annoy you?
Nate: When you’re mad at me

•What is mommy’s favorite tv show?
Nate: Goblin

•What is mommy’s job?
Nate:banking

•What is mommy’s favorite color?
Nate: Purple!

•How much do you love mommy?
Nate: So much!

Nissa doesn’t know where he got the beer because she doesn’t drink beer, or maybe he sees her occasionally with one.

It’s Finally Fixed

Good thing, Josef stayed at home today finally fixing my PC which I could not boot earlier. When you’re not used to posting on a tab, you get confused and it is quite hard.

Took some pictures of Nate when they came over for Christmas lunch. We played at the garden with his water guns.

Look at how focused he is in inspecting one of the water guns

Haha, he found a way to fill it with water easily.

The Blue Boy in action. He called himself that and he called me The Orange Lady.

I actually took a video of this…two minutes of bliss!

Here is his latest picture with his mom taken just yesterday. He has become a little chubby but I love how he looks now. He has even grown taller.

Haha, happy days are here again, I could finally post photos. Hopefully this  PC would last longer.
