Yes, some precious moments with Nate captured on cam. He is so fond of making those funny face. I  like it though because he always looks happy in front of the camera.

Play. Play. Play. Telling stories about school. Counting Jelly candies with Mommy. Nice bonding moments.

Nissa took this shot two weeks ago. It’s Nate’s short, short hair cut for the summer days. I posted it as my profile photo and it earned a lot of comments and likes.  It’s the first time since he was a year old that he has his hair trimmed this short.  Nate is our little “binata” now.

It was one  of those times that we really enjoyed bonding with Nate when  they came over yesterday for a visit.  It was a memorable day full of laughter and fun with lots of shouting in between. He demonstrated his prowess on the bow and arrow (his second set in a span of a week).  Nissa said that while they were on their way out two weeks ago, Nate in all seriousness asked his dad to buy him a bow and arrow. He was sitting quietly  in  the car when he said, “Buy me bow and arrow, Dad. I’m behaving.”  I really laughed at that. He could be a little persuasive when he wants something.

Yesterday, he showed us his toy ( a new one still in a box) . He was so proud to show  me how to load the four plastic arrows and aim them somewhere inside the house. When he got tired of it, he played with our dogs. He was no longer afraid to get near because they now have a dog at home.  Every time they visit us, the day is not complete without visiting our small garden.  We enjoyed picking Calamansi together, never mind that he picked the small ones that he can reach. He shouted when he saw so many big ones. It’s an activity that we always enjoy together.

Crazy moments with Ninong Josef. They don’t see each other often but when they do, it is always a riot.

Nate at the garden

A late afternoon exercise  🙂 And here are more pictures when he discovered the jackfruits growing in the garden. He was amazed. It was a gentle touch at first, followed by running his hands on the fruit.

He asked, "what do you call these Nonna?"

...nd yes, we can eat them too when they are ripe.

…and yes, we can eat them too when they are ripe.

That pretty sums up what we did yesterday. He is so appreciative of everything. Even the food is all “yummy” to him.

And the best way for a child to learn  about nature? Teach him how to garden.

Two weeks ago they stayed here for  long weekend. That was the time that typhoon Mario brought heavy rains and flooded Metro Manila again. We woke up to the sound of  thunder and the lightning bolts making Nate cover his face while  saying “Nonna, Nonna”. He was sandwiched  on the bed between me  and Nissa yet he would not open his eyes, clearly afraid of the storm. Who wouldn’t be? Then the sudden deluge of rain kept us wide awake until morning. We have to transfer to our neighbor’s house when the flood waters reached our garage.  Though the scenario was frightening  (we have to transfer our things atop the raised bed), it was an opportunity to bond longer with the kids and with our neighbors who were like second family to us. Luckily, Nissa was on leave for work for two days and it was Josef’s rest day too. Nissa took some shots with Nate enjoying the company of  Jaden and Kurt. In between shouts of laughter, we were happy just seeing them play together.

Nissa cooked a packed of miki noodles with chicken the day after when we went back to the house. Look how Nate enjoyed a plate of it. He eats vegetables and anything that he finds “yummy”.  He prefers eating on his own with spoon and fork , a sign of independence for a toddler who hasn’t turned two yet. I miss  him though, I only get to talk to him in Viber once in a while. Hopefully this weekend, we’ll see each other again.

I guess the best weekends are always those times spent with the family, more precious moments to enjoy with  Nate especially. We had  three-hour rotating brownouts  this afternoon  but it was a blessing in disguise because instead of staying inside the house, we got to spend time at the garden where there was an occasional breeze blowing. Nate enjoyed watching the dogs roam around and picking kalamansi. We had a good laugh teaching him new words. He would always smile  and laugh when he can’t pronounce the words and we would laugh with him. Despite the heat of the afternoon, we enjoyed the family bonding.

A typical Nate smile. Love his eyes when he smiles.

Our place is on the eastern side of Metro Manila so we get to see every airplane that passes  going to and from the airport. Nate had a good time watching those airplanes gliding like big birds in the sky. Nissa is counting the days when they could bring Nate on a trip to celebrate their wedding anniversary and Nate’s birthday. She told Nate that he would ride in one of those big birds soon.  I think he also enjoyed picking kalamansi with his yaya. Never mind that he can’t distinguish which is ready for picking or not, it’s the experience that counts.

You are growing so fast baby, I just love this stage in your life discovering so much of what you can do now. I love how you smile and laugh and  how you enjoy playing hide and seek with me. I love  to hear your shouts and your way of saying “Nonna, Nonna”.
