DREAMS AND ESCAPES

Can’t help but share this (Nissa and Nate talking about death). Sweet, sweet Nate 🙂

Nate and I got to talking about death last night…

Me: Would you be sad if I died?
Nate: Yes..and if you die I want to go with you and stay in Heaven with you.
Me: No..I want you to live your life and be happy even if I’m gone.
Nate: Mama said when we’re in heaven we’re all brothers and sisters. If I died, would you remember that I’m your son?

Then he started bawling and I couldn’t help but cry too…
💔💔💔

And as sad as he was, he still thought to wipe away my tears and ask me to stop crying because He will ask God to give me a long life and because He will protect and take care of me forever.

Saturday Joys

DREAMS AND ESCAPES

Yes, it is another family day with just Nissa, Nate and Oreo for company. Josef has an overtime work today.

I am simply amazed by  Nate’s appetite nowadays. He is a little chubby compared to the last time we saw each other during his graduation in kindergarten.

I cooked fried chicken wings and spaghetti for lunch.  He ate three fried chicken wings, a little rice and a plate of spaghetti. Shared a bar of chocolate with Nissa later,  then King Crab crackers plus  two bottles of Mogo Mogo. Then a few hours  ago, he said he was hungry again. Nissa cooked some eggs and hot dog...kain ulit siyawith fried rice. WOW.  He even finished the bowl of fried garlic rice a little later.

Nissa said, “tumaba siya ano Ma?” He does not want that word “mataba” (fat), he frowned at both of us.

Ah, I said, “malusog”.

Those Funny Moments

DREAMS AND ESCAPES

Nate could act like a grown-up sometime.  I read these from Nissa’s wall and I was like, “he could say these?” But it is so typical of Nate. He is just six acting like twenty. Amazing!

“I’ll be an engineer or a pilot for you someday, Mom. All the money I’ll get, I’ll give to you. We will buy anything you want. Because you take good care of me, it’s my turn to take care of you. A promise is a promise!”

He hasn’t forgotten his dreams of  being a pilot someday. When he graduated from Kinder I two years ago, he donned a pilot’s uniform, then he met an actual pilot at the Manila Hotel where their graduation was held.

Looking good in your uniform Nate!

He felt suddenly shy meeting a real pilot.

Out of the blue, he blurted out:

“Mommy how did you break up with your…

Halloween 2018

DREAMS AND ESCAPES

Nate brought along his loot bag of the candies and chocolates he collected during their Halloween  Party at Nissa’s office.  We had fun sorting them out.

Halloween 2018

He came  dressed as a jet fighter pilot.

Pouting Look

DREAMS AND ESCAPES

Sometimes, this is a typical  Nate look. Haha, I just smiled when Nissa sent me this photo a while ago.

I gave him that pair of pants last Saturday which I bought a few days ago, a sort of gift  for his good grades.  Nissa thought it was a bit too long but it is a perfect fit. He is just tall for his age.

Saturday, Saturday

DREAMS AND ESCAPES

Another family day.

What a lovely Saturday it turned out to be. Nate and I played together. Just  hearing  his unrestrained and loud laughter, seeing the happy smile on his face, listening to  some of his stories about school – priceless moments.

We create  memories.

When he saw the bedroom with new curtains and  freshly changed sheets, he said “Wow“. but that was followed by these words.  “Our bedroom is lovelier”.  Nissa and I just laughed.

While mom, my son-in-law and  Nissa  took an afternoon nap, Nate and I busied ourselves with his  assorted toys.  He brought along his newly bought scooter  and asked me if we could go out.  The sun was hot so we didn’t.

There is really no dull moment when I am with Nate.  The day is complete even if we only spent  a few hours playing together.

Nissa brought me several issues of

DREAMS AND ESCAPES

I am just happy seeing his face, how happy he is in the picture. The innocence of a child, the spontaneous smile that goes with it.  The happy moment captured in a photograph.

Tuesday Musings

DREAMS AND ESCAPES

Woke up to another cold morning and it is raining again.  I wonder when I’ll get to see the sun’s face again in all  its glory. I wonder if we’ll spend Christmas day like this one.

I spent sometime yesterday planning  what to prepare for our Noche Buena.  I have actually cooked two kilos of embutido the other day and  put  it in the freezer. Embutido is our Filipino version of meatloaf which is cooked by steaming.  It consists of ground pork, raisins, sausage, cheese, eggs, pickle relish, carrots and other seasonings. You can freeze it for  more  than just a month and it does not lose its flavor.  Of course, fruit, macaroni or potato salad won’t be left behind since Mom is here.  She loves anything that spells S-A-L-A-D. And  pasta dishes  and sweet delicacies won’t be left behind.   Nissa is on a Keto diet and she does not eat…

All In The Family

DREAMS AND ESCAPES

Gosh, that was a severe migraine I had yesterday –  gargantuan headache, nausea  and vomiting five times in the process. I didn’t eat lunch and dinner  even if I was a bit hungry. I was  indisposed when my daughter’s family came over for a visit.  Except for the grandson, they had a scheduled visit to our family dentist who lives near our place.  Nate had  his dental prophylaxis in another clinic a week ago.

The moment Nate  stepped inside the gate, he showed his two hands wearing black glove on his right hand, a finger less glove on his other hand  and one foot with dark sock. “I am a ninja Nonna“, he said. I laughed. He brought his toy train set with him but without battery. They left him here for a few hours and he just played with his toys while I had my eyes closed the…
